Sprinting beyond summertime

Hopefully many of us are having a peaceful summer! While the neighborhood has been busy, our ANC has been tidying up some work before a brief break from official duties during August. But that doesn't mean I've been sitting idly!

I spent the last week of July cycling across my home state of Iowa, and visited this stand for DC statehood in the middle of a corn field!

Below you can find a recap from July, a glance at what is scheduled for August 2021, our resident + business in focus, and this month's video briefing.

WHAT WE DID

  • Approved 5-2 a letter in support of a special exception to lot occupancy restrictions at 2240 Ontario Rd NW

  • Approved 7-0 a letter in support of an art project at the corner of 17th St NW & Columbia Rd NW

  • Approved 7-0 a letter in support of an art project outside the Line Hotel

  • Participated in a Reed Cooke Neighborhood Association street cleanup

  • Represented ANC 1C at the July Adams Morgan Partnership BID board meeting

  • Attended a vigil in ward 1 for those who have died while experiencing homelessness

  • Attended ANC quarterly meeting with Councilmember Phil Mendelson

  • Joined the Ward 1 education and youth committee, unofficially representing ANC 1C

  • My testimony was quoted in a Washington Post piece on vacant and blighted properties

WHAT'S UP NEXT

  • ANC 1C and its committees will not meet in August; next meetings are in September!

  • Similarly, the Adams Morgan Partnership BID will have its next board meeting in September

  • Redistricting data from the US Census Bureau will begin being released; this will help shape how ANCs and wards get drawn
