January was a tense month for many of us in the District of Columbia.
Following the lead of ANC commissioners across the city, the White House and Congress have transitioned to new administration. Mere days beforehand, violent insurrectionists stormed DC, stocked with firearms, racism, and a sense of entitlement.
I'm happy to report that many of us in Adams Morgan took a proactive approach and organized a street cleanup after they left a mess in the neighborhood.
But a new president is only a small part of what's going on in 1C03! See below for what I helped accomplish this month, what's in store for February, and to meet some neighbors.
WHAT WE DID
SunTrust resolution passed 6-2; DC Superior judge ruled the plaza is private property
Plans for a commissary kitchen at 2412 18th Street passed 8-0; HPRB approved in December
Organized street & park cleanup following Proud Boys staying in neighborhood
Water leak in Kalorama Park on Columbia Rd was fixed
Signed city-wide ANC letters for police accountability and transportation justice
Presented to Sunrise Movement DC on ANCs: what are they, why do they matter?
