A new year is upon us! And it has quickly tested one important element of DC infrastructure: snow and ice removal. Beyond the snowfall, cold temperatures are posing a serious risk to residents in vulnerable housing situations. Emergency shelters are imperfectly supported, but they do exist for those of us in need of protection from the elements.
With the new year also comes a new slate of ANC 1C commissioners. I am eager to begin my third term representing ANC 1C03, and feel optimistic that our incoming set of commissioners will be a supportive group for accomplishing many of the objectives I've discussed with Adams Morgan residents.
As always, please let me know what's on your mind! That helps ensure the coming months stay focused on issues—obvious and overlooked—that matter to our neighborhood and all of DC.
Let's look back at December 2024, preview January 2025, meet our organization + business in focus, and see this month's video briefing.
WHAT WE DID
Passed a letter of support (7-0) for a commercial loading zone on the 1800 block of Columbia Rd NW
Approved (7-0) amended text for a preexisting settlement agreement with Andy's Pizza at 2465 18th St NW
These changes had already been agreed to by the other parties on the agreement, amounting to a slight change in hours of operation
Quoted in The Wash article on package theft throughout DC
Sadly not a new issue, I discussed some of the short-term and long-term components of reducing package theft and improving peace of mind for residents
