Excited for the Challenges in Store

We've reached the time of year when transitions are abundant. School years are coming to a close. DC's annual budget creation process is nearing a finale for FY 2025. And the erratic weather of spring is (slowly, hopefully) changing to something more stable and inviting.

Speaking of transition, WMATA recently announced they are seeking public input on what could potentially be a huge improvement to DC's bus system. The proposed Better Bus Network would change bus routes pretty significantly across DC, including for Adams Morgan. Explore the project's website and share your feedback—either with me, ANC 1C, or directly to WMATA—before their July 15, 2024, deadline.

Despite cold and rainy conditions, Adams Morgan's spring Porchfest was a huge success—with 18th St NW solely open for pedestrians

The Office of the Attorney General for DC welcomed several ANC commissioners for a training on how to best collaborate with OAG for a wide range of legal questions

Now let's recap May 2024, preview June 2024, meet our organization + business in focus, and see this month's video briefing.

WHAT WE DID
  • Supported (8-0) Jubilee Housing's application to the Historic Preservation Review Board regarding proposed development to 1800 Columbia Road NW

  • Passed (8-0) a resolution requesting the ANC Security Fund requirement be removed from DC Code

  • Participation in this fund is an annual requirement of ANCs, though its role has been challenged by OANC and ANC 1C as redundant, unhelpful, and tedious for commissioners

  • Completed OAG training for ANC commissioners on how to utilize their services for constituent concerns

  • Joined students at the University of the District of Columbia as a guest reviewer for their final projects in a DC Politics course

  • Spoke with WUSA9 about transportation safety on Columbia Road NW
