A frigid February with warmth in sight

Despite the icy weather, the Adams Morgan community was operating at full speed this month. And that includes me and your Advisory Neighborhood Commission!

This final week of February I was ecstatic to moderate a brilliant panel on affordable housing. I'm hoping to organize more events like this in the future, so keep an eye out :)

Had a great evening learning about the challenges & opportunities for housing equity in DC

Here's a brief summary of what I helped accomplish this past month, what to expect in March 2021, and our monthly resident + business in focus.

WHAT WE DID

  • Request passed 8-0 for DDOT to study potential for bike lanes on Columbia Rd

  • Support passed 8-0 for DDOT to assess traffic safety at Adams Mill & Clydesdale

  • Organized and moderated a virtual panel on affordable housing; video here

  • Participated as judge in Adams Morgan Partnership BID's Valentine's Day contest

  • Participated in the AMPBID's board meeting (I'm currently ANC 1C's rep to the BID)

WHAT'S UP NEXT

  • March 1: I'll be testifying at the Committee on Human Services performance oversight hearing advocating for increased funding for domestic violence survivors

  • March 3: ANC 1C general meeting (agenda here, link to attend here!)

  • March 9: I'll be representing ANC 1C at the annual AMPBID meeting

  • March 11: DC's 311 service is having a contest!

    • Please follow @311DCgov and tweet at them "#311AnswersTheCall #Ward1 @AdamsMorganANC"

    • The ANC who gets 311 the most new Twitter followers gets a tour of DC's 311/911 facilities; help us make sure 1C is represented!

  • March 20: neighborhood cleanup to correspond with Mayor's cleanup day; RSVP here!

  • Date TBD: commissary kitchen at 2412 18th St is eager to meet with nearby residents; I'll reach out to affected neighbors to arrange a time once their interior design plans are final
