Moving Ahead with Hard Work

Summer might be officially over, but activity is still at full speed in Adams Morgan. The past month went by very quickly as the fiscal year came to a close for DC.

When the rain took a break I shared some positivity with a sidewalk chalk message on Kalorama Rd NW

Let's look back at September, glance at what is ahead for October 2021, our resident + business in focus, and this month's video briefing.

WHAT WE DID

  • Resolution in support of safety enhancements to the intersection of 16th Street, U Street, and New Hampshire Avenue NW passed 5-0

  • Resolution in favor of safer road infrastructure on 17th Street NW passed 5-0

  • $4,000 grant for translation services for early childhood care passed 5-0

  • $4,000 grant for a scissor lift to aid in painting a mural at Marie Reed Elementary passed 5-0

  • Review of ANC 1C's contract for audio & video services was postponed indefinitely (2-0-3)

  • Continued assisting residents with STAY DC applications for rent assistance; please keep alerting me if you or someone you know could use help!

  • Co-signed a letter to DC housing authorities urging them to suspend plans that would suddenly displace unhoused residents staying in encampments on public land

  • Represented ANC 1C at the September Adams Morgan Partnership BID board meeting

  • Successfully requested Google Maps label Ann Hughes Hargrove Park on their map

  • Shared a detailed recent legal history of the property at 1800 Columbia Rd NW and was mentioned in a Washington Post article on the matter

  • Volunteered and attended both Adams Morgan Day and Adams Morgan Porchfest!

WHAT'S UP NEXT

  • October 6: ANC 1C general meeting (agenda here, link to attend here)

  • October 23: Out of the Darkness walk on the national mall to support suicide prevention

  • October 30: Adams Morgan Apple Festival
